FAQS

Q:  How long does it take you to make the complete intercooler piping, exhaust dump and turbo headers?

A: Currently it takes me 1.5 months for the street kit and 2 months for the race kit.  v8 turbo kits from other companies take 3-6 month wait in comparison.

Q:  Can you build custom twin turbo kit?

A:  Yes I can build custom twin turbo kit.  Please contact for specific specs and pricing

Q:  What other parts do I need besides the kit

A:  You will need fuel upgrades if your going beyond 4.4 psi.  4.4 psi is the max I would run for a stock tune, stock maf, stock fuel injector, stock fuel tank setup.  Anything higher I would purchase a 300 lph focus fuel pump, at least 39# injectors or bigger, SCT BA2800 maf, and an xcal2.

Q:  Do what rpms do you build boost and full boost?

A:  My turbo kits with a large  precision pt61 or gt40 garett turbo with .81 turbine a/r builds boost at 2.6k and full boost by 3k.  A/r turbine options can be a .68 turbine a/r .81 turbine a/r or .96 turbine a/r.  So if you want something a little bit faster spooling I would recommend getting a .68 turbine a/r

Q:  Do I have to upgrade my fuel system?

A:  Not unless you plan to go beyond 4.4 psi. If you plan to run 4.4 psi or less, your stock fuel system will be able to support the turbo without any problems.  I recorded an air/fuel ratio of 11.8 to 1 at 4.4 psi with the stock MAF, stock injectors, stock pump, and stock computer.

Q:  Which maf should I get?

A:  I recommend an SCTBA2800 MAF.  If you plan to go beyond 13 psi I would recommend getting a maf extender with the sctba2800 maf.

Q:  Who can tune my car if I want to go beyond 4.4 psi?

A:  Check your local dyno shops and find out if they have SCT software to dynotune your car.  I do have tune files for 39 pound injectors and Ba2800 SCT maf's on a stock 1999+ car.  I can do custom tuning but you would need to get a wideband along with xcal2 so you can datalog and I can  fine tweak it.

Q:  What horsepower can I expect out of a turbocharger?

A:  Check out my dyno page and news updates on dyno numbers my kit produces. Typically my kits with a stock engine 1999+ mutang produces 330rwhp and 390rwtq for my race kit.

Q:  How much power can a stock motor take?

A:  Well Justin from vmp tuning has taken the car up to the 450rwhp on the stock bottom end with race gas at 17 psi and a good tune.  I don't advice attemping this unless you really like pushing the limits.  My personal opinion I feel 10 psi on 91 pump gas is the max you should run and 11-12 psi on 93 octane gas.  With race gas you can raise the boost a bit higher.

Q: How long does it take to install the turbo kit?

A: It takes about 24 hours to install the turbo kit. Its very easy no need for any fancy tools. Your basic hand tools will do the job. Only special tool you would need is just a 1/2" NPT tap to tap into your oil pan for the drain hose. I have a quick overview of the install on the installation section of this website.

Q: Do i have to lift motor to install kit?

A: No

Q: What controls boost?

A: The 38 mm tial wastegate springs control boost. You can swap springs for differnt boost settings. Or you can add on an additional manual boost controller or electronic to control boost.

Q: Will I have to change out my dual exhaust with your kit?

A: No you can keep your current dual exhaust. My kits do use a single exhaust but I can split them with a Y pipe near the tranny and driveshaft area to attach to your dual exhaust.  You will need to take it to a muffler shop so they can weld your dual exhaust pipes onto the Y pipe that I build.

Q: Do you offer huge turbos for serious forge build up motors drag race machines.

A: Yes I can supply any turbo you like.  Contact me for custom specing

Q: Where can I find turbo specs and resources?

A: I recommend visiting www.cheapturbos.com for more detailed turbo info and specs.  I also recommend www.atpturbo.com as well as www.turbobygarrtt.com
